Sunflowers Exciting News!

Sunflowers has been selected as a “2010 Yankee Magazine Editors’ Choice”  restaurant in Yankee Magazine's annual Travel Guide issue!  We have been honored with the designation "Best-Rounded Menu!"

You will find us on the first page of the New Hampshire listings described as:  "A cheery gathering spot that's as good for locally sourced salads and great pastries as it is for Philly cheese steak and pan-seared duck. The mimosas are famous."

The Word on the Street

about the Restaurant ...

"We had a lovely dinner at Sunflowers! The restaurant has great ambience and the owners and staff are so welcoming. The food was delicious, there were 8 of us and we were all so pleased. The cocktail specials were great and the menu had something for everyone."

"We were driving around Jaffrey in the dark, in the rain looking for anyplace that was still open and serving food. Low and behold, we see the warm lights pouring out of Sunflowers. We parked right out front and they seated us as soon as we walked in. The menu was small but everything we had was fantastic!! The French Onion soup and large selection of hot teas, in particular, were a wonderful way to warm up. The goat cheese salad and chicken and pasta dish were also delicious. A great surprise for an otherwise doomed dinner adventure...."

"This local restaurant makes an effort to  utilize local produce, local wines, and locally grown foods. Each time we've eaten there we've tried a food that we've not eaten before and been totally impressed with the taste and presentation of the food items. Make sure you make reservations - even during the week!"

"Last evening we had dinner at Sunflowers with new friends and the experience was outstanding. My main course was the lobster scampi and it could not have been improved upon. It was in a word superb. My wife's duck breast was also excellent. She has had many duck dishes against which she judged Sunflowers' to be among the best...We finished off the meal by splitting an incredibly light yet flavorful cheesecake, The perfect dessert. The coffee was marvelous. The service was attentive yet we never felt hurried which enabled us to get to know each other better. You had four very pleased patrons!
- Bob, Peterborough

"...a really remarkable lunch with some very nice touches...the mixed white and sweet potato french fries and the presentation were great and the food delicious. It was a treat to watch interesting customers come in, and an even greater treat to see how good the chef and staff were - they seemed to really enjoy working together."
- Karen, Montpelier VT

"Wonderful food, wine, ambience and people ... at a most reasonable price.  Check it out!"

"The Long Hill ladies enjoyed a delightful lunch at Sunflowers Cafe.  The service, food and environment were super!"
 - Longhill Estates Ladies Luncheon Club

"Great find ... Fantastic brunch at Sunflowers Cafe--in the former Aylmer's Grille location on Main St. My Key West benedict featured two delicious crab cakes; dining companion's California Benedict had some nice smoked salmon. Eggs are locally sourced, hollandaise was excellent. Coconut cream pie for dessert was sublime. The rest of the menu looks inventive--there are not too many choices in the Monadnock region, and this place is worth a detour."

"Great Cafe!  Delicious cafe with a unique menu. The food is fresh and made to order. Each time I go there's always something new to try, the soups are excellent and the service is friendly."

- Elaine & Paul, Fitzwilliam

"While on Main Street you might want to take time to eat ... Sunflowers Cafe ... serves up spinach portobello ravioli at dinner, hot meatloaf sandwiches at lunch and a killer smoked salmon pizza, just to name some of the choices."

“We were visiting from Connecticut, and came across Sunflowers Restaurant. It turned out to be our lucky day. We had a fabulous meal. Every aspect of the service and the meal was perfect. We visit NH often, and plan to stop in each time we are near Jaffrey." – Michele L., Wolcott CT

“When one sits in front of an exquisite meal, one cannot help but feel special. And you did just that for all the GSA's attending lunch at your place yesterday. It was wonderful!  My only regret was that I could not choose ALL of the menu.”
- Norma A., Granite State Ambassador

“Thank you again for your kindness and generosity in serving us last week long after your restaurant was closed! We were so touched by your hospitality (not to mention that the food was delicious and the atmosphere lovely!) Judy and I were saying if only your café was closer, we would be regulars.”
- Judy and Faye, Dedham, MA

"Monday Night Bistro is a smaller menu than other evenings, but just as good. Pizza, Mexican, baked comfort food, sandwiches. My wife had the Chicken Divan and I enjoyed an enchilada plate. Both were delicious! . We really enjoyed ourselves. Good food, quieter than some places, good service. And, open on Monday evening. I highly recommend it."
- Lee, Fitzwilliam, NH

"Strawberry rhubarb pie is hardly a seasonal item [in December], but Sunflowers provided a magnificent pie for Lynne, luscious brownies for Stan, and adorable meringue mice for Soko and Tillman... The complete reliability of Sunflowers and their willingness to do a small job for an out-of-state stranger, tells me that they could and would handle any challenge to their creativity and artistry." - Hornell, NY

"The food you made for the reception was delicious and beautifully arranged. Thank you for the thoughtfulness and care you gave it. We will certainly sing your praises as a caterer."
